CHPP Maintenance Technician – Electrical

About the role

The CHPP Maintenance Technician – Electrical will work within the Coal Handling and Processing Plant (CHPP) at Bengalla Mining Company. This position is responsible for identifying, scoping and preparing electrical defects for timely execution, supporting plant reliability and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Scope, plan and prepare electrical and instrumentation work from defects, condition monitoring data and engineering recommendations.
• Review weekly and shutdown schedules to confirm work readiness and priorities.
• Validate completed work against site standards and documentation requirements.
• Provide technical support for electrical and instrumentation assets, including design reviews, repair strategies, modifications and upgrades.
• Identify equipment risks, contribute to risk assessments, isolation planning and control strategies.
• Develop and improve inspection techniques, procedures, reporting processes and work instructions.
• Support fixed‑plant maintenance strategies, reliability initiatives and root‑cause investigations.
• Coordinate critical electrical tasks during shutdowns and assist with execution as directed.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders, engineering teams and suppliers to improve plant reliability.

Required profile

• Electrical trade qualification.
• Experience in CHPP or similar infrastructure maintenance.
• Proven ability to scope work and prepare tasks for execution.
• Familiarity with CMMS systems (e.g., Pulse).
• Knowledge of relevant Australian Standards.
• Strong planning, prioritisation and multitasking abilities.
• High attention to detail and commitment to process.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
