Chiller Team Leader – Lead, Mentor, and Stay Hands‑On

About the role

Johnson Controls is seeking an experienced Service Team Leader – Chillers to lead a talented team of technicians in Perth. This hands‑on leadership position offers a $10,000 sign‑on bonus and the chance to shape the future of HVAC service while remaining technically involved.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a team of Chiller Technicians, apprentices and subcontractors.
• Drive operational excellence across maintenance, repair, retrofit and service activities.
• Provide senior‑level technical expertise on YORK Chillers and related HVAC systems.
• Oversee commissioning, troubleshooting, diagnostics and preventive maintenance.
• Build strong customer relationships and identify service improvement opportunities.
• Support project planning, scheduling, estimating and resource allocation.
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with standards.

Required profile

• Trade qualification in HVAC/Refrigeration or equivalent industry experience.
• Minimum 5 years relevant experience (or 7 years without formal qualification).
• Strong experience with centrifugal, screw or large commercial chillers.
• Demonstrated leadership or supervisory capability.
• Commercial awareness and sound business acumen.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Required skills

• HVAC/Refrigeration technical expertise.
• Knowledge of YORK Chiller technology.
• Experience with centrifugal and screw commercial chillers.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
