Child Care Worker (Diploma Qualified Educator)

About the role

Barefoot Early Learning is seeking a caring, responsible and dedicated Child Care Worker to join its team on a full-time, permanent basis in Erskine, WA. The role supports the daily care, supervision, safety and development of young children through age-appropriate activities, play-based learning and help with daily routines.

Key responsibilities

• Provide daily care, supervision and support to children in a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment
• Assist with daily routines such as meals, dressing, toileting, handwashing, rest and personal hygiene
• Supervise children indoors and outdoors and act to keep them safe
• Organise and take part in educational, recreational and play-based activities
• Support children's physical, emotional, social, language and cognitive development
• Help implement educational programs consistent with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) where applicable
• Maintain observations and records, and report safety hazards, incidents and child protection concerns
• Prepare and maintain clean, safe play and learning areas and set up toys and equipment
• Follow food safety, hygiene and infection control procedures, and monitor children's health and wellbeing
• Communicate with parents, guardians and colleagues and respect children's backgrounds and cultures
• Work with other educators and management, attend staff meetings and training, and keep confidentiality

Required profile

• Relevant qualifications, training or practical experience in early childhood education, childcare or a related field
• Demonstrated experience caring for or working with young children in a childcare centre, family day care service or similar setting
• Understanding of children's developmental stages and play-based learning
• Ability to meet Western Australian screening, child safety and employment requirements, including the Working with Children Check where required
