About the role

Compass Group Australia is hiring a full-time Chef in Kew, VIC. The role covers overseeing kitchen activities and staff in the absence of the Head Chef, creating and serving high-quality dishes, and keeping the kitchen running smoothly and safely.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee kitchen activities and staff in the absence of the Head Chef, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
• Create and serve high-quality dishes that meet the standards and please customers, residents and clients.
• Manage inventory by accepting deliveries, storing ingredients properly and keeping the kitchen well-stocked.
• Keep the kitchen and all equipment clean, organised and in good working condition.
• Apply catering management practices to minimise waste and maximise efficiency.
• Work closely with team members and interact positively with residents to improve their dining experience.
• Follow all health and safety regulations and food safety guidelines, and uphold a culture of safety in the kitchen.

Required profile

• Minimum Certificate III in Commercial Cookery.
• Previous experience cooking in a similar environment is essential.
• Ability to work under pressure while staying positive and professional.
• Good understanding of running a catering operation within strict budgetary constraints.
• Police check holder, or willing to obtain one before starting.
