Job description

About the role

Newcastle Anglican is recruiting a Centre Manager for headspace Maitland, a permanent full-time position. The Centre Manager leads the operational leadership, workforce coordination, service quality and performance of the centre, ensuring it runs according to the headspace model, hMIF requirements, funding obligations, local procedures, clinical governance arrangements and Samaritans policies. The role works closely with the Clinical Lead to deliver safe, accessible, youth-friendly and culturally responsive services to young people aged 12 to 25 and their families, carers and support people.

Key responsibilities

  • Support service delivery across the four core headspace streams: mental health and wellbeing, physical and sexual health, alcohol and other drug services, and work and study support.
  • Ensure essential workforce functions are in place regularly, including service management, clinical leadership, community engagement, reception, practice administration, youth participation and culturally specific roles.
  • Work with the Community Services Manager, Clinical Lead, headspace National, the Primary Health Network, partners, GPs, allied health providers, co-located services and local stakeholders to improve service quality, access and compliance.

Required profile

  • Tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or Mental Health Nursing, with full professional registration or membership in line with the discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience managing a health or community service, including resource planning and allocation.
  • Leadership experience supporting and developing service executives, and experience in complex programme management.
  • Strengths-based and clinical supervision of staff, and understanding of the Australian health care system and primary health care.
  • Current driver's licence, access to a registered insured vehicle, Australian work rights, and willingness to obtain a NSW Working with Children Check, first aid and CPR certificate and a pre-employment medical.

Required skills

  • Electronic client/customer management systems, desktop computer use, Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office.
  • High-level communication and partnership-building skills.
  • Conceptual thinking, problem analysis and self-motivation to meet deadlines without direct supervision.

What we offer

  • Up to 40% discount on school enrolment fees at Newcastle Anglican schools.
  • Salary packaging (up to $611 per fortnight), MAXXIA rewards program and discounted Medibank private health insurance.
  • Professional development, career opportunities and access to over 300 gyms via the Fitness Passport Program.
  • Employee Assistance Program and paid parental or partner leave after 12 months of service.
