Category Specialist – Procurement & Contract Management

About the role

As a Category Specialist within TasNetworks’ Supply Chain team, you will partner with the Commercial Leader to shape and execute data‑driven category strategies. Based in Hobart, you will play a pivotal role in analysing markets, guiding contractual decisions and managing the full contract lifecycle to deliver optimal outcomes for the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Support the commercialisation of category strategies and provide strategic recommendations.
• Conduct detailed market and spend analysis to identify opportunities and risks.
• Advise internal stakeholders on contractual and commercial matters.
• Oversee the end‑to‑end contract lifecycle, from negotiation to performance monitoring.
• Maintain and develop supplier relationships to ensure value and compliance.

Required profile

• Proven experience in procurement, contract management or a related supply‑chain function.
• Strong analytical ability to interpret market trends and contract performance.
• Excellent communication skills, able to present complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail and problem‑solving capabilities.
• Customer‑focused mindset and adaptability to change.

• Permanent full‑time role based in Hobart.
• Base salary starting at $103,000 per year (plus super) with a negotiable total package.
