Casual Wayfinding Assistant

About the role

HOBAN Recruitment is seeking friendly, approachable and customer-focused Wayfinding Assistants to support patients, visitors and staff at a major hospital in Parkville. The role helps create a welcoming experience during a key corridor closure linked to redevelopment works, giving clear directions and assisting people with alternative routes. The position is temporary, from 9 November 2026 to 6 June 2027.

Key responsibilities

• Welcome and greet patients, visitors and staff at the hospital car park ground-floor entrance.
• Provide clear directions to departments, clinics and services.
• Assist people in navigating alternative routes during the corridor closure.
• Use a computer-based information portal to locate patients and give permitted location information to visitors.
• Respond to wheelchair requests and keep accurate records of wheelchair allocation and returns.
• Provide wayfinding assistance at other hospital locations as required.
• Carry out general administrative and support duties as directed.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and follow privacy, safety and workplace procedures.

Required profile

• 18 years of age or older.
• Current Working With Children Check (WWCC) employee.
• Current National Police Check issued within the last six months.
• Complete immunisation assessment according to hospital workforce requirements.
• Willingness to complete orientation and procedures documentation.
• Neat, professional appearance in a smart-casual dress code.

Required skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong customer service mindset.
• Confidence using basic computer systems and keeping accurate records.
• Ability to work calmly in a busy environment and alternate between standing, sitting and walking during shifts.

• Pay of $35-$70 per hour, with penalty rates applying where applicable.
