Casual Academic - School of Mathematics and Physics (SCIE1000/SCIE1100)

About the role

The School of Mathematics and Physics at the University of Queensland is looking for casual academics to deliver applied teaching sessions for SCIE1000 and SCIE1100. Positions are limited and are casual academic appointments, so there is no firm advance commitment to ongoing or indefinite work. Classes start in Week 1 of the semester and run for most weeks, with the exact schedule to be determined.

• Mark assignments
• Provide teaching support
• Foster caring, collaborative and inclusive classroom and laboratory environments

Required profile

• Strong academic background in mathematics or any area of science, including medical or biomedical science
• Normally a GPA of at least 5.5 and at least 18 months of undergraduate study, not currently studying first-year courses
• Honours, Masters by Research and PhD candidates are encouraged to apply; postgraduate coursework students with at least one semester of full-time study are also eligible
• Good understanding of computer programming fundamentals (conditionals, loops, arrays, functions, graphing)
• International students must hold a visa permitting casual employment
