Casual Academic - School of Agriculture and Food Sustainability

About the role

The School of Agriculture and Food Sustainability at the University of Queensland is seeking casual academics to support the Course Coordinator in delivering first-year, second-year, third-year and postgraduate courses. Positions are based at both the Gatton and St Lucia campuses, and appointees must be available to attend on campus. The application closes on 4 December 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Support demonstrators in practical classes, demonstrations and student field excursions
• Marking and exam invigilation
• Prepare for and facilitate class activities that do not require developing materials
• Consult with students and attend induction sessions
• Undertake training as required
• Moderate discussion forums and be available for student consultation online or in person, or for specific activities such as simulations, outside paid time
• Take part in other academic activities as directed by the supervisor

Required profile

• Candidates welcomed include research assistants, postdoctoral fellows, honours and degree students, and people who have previously taught at a significant level and wish to return to work
• Compliance with university policy, the Code of Conduct, Queensland occupational health and safety legislation, sustainability requirements and overseas student education regulations

• Casual position with no firm advance commitment to ongoing or indefinite work
• Remuneration according to the category of duties, usually within the AC30 and AC50 pay scales
