Café Attendant - Casual

About the role

Casual positions are available for Café Attendants at Macquarie University Hospital, a private not-for-profit teaching hospital on a university campus. The role delivers a high-quality hospitality experience for patients, visitors and staff, working within a supportive and collaborative team.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare food and beverages for patients, visitors and staff in a timely manner with a customer-centric approach.
• Deliver excellent customer service and maintain a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
• Work with team members to achieve shared goals and uphold service excellence.
• Support the orientation and development of new staff and contribute to a positive team culture.
• Complete required documentation accurately and in line with hospital policies and procedures.
• Follow food hygiene, cleanliness standards, HACCP requirements and Work Health and Safety legislation.
• Take part in quality assurance, continuous improvement projects and audits.
• Complete mandatory education and competency requirements on time and perform other duties directed by the Hospital Café Manager.

Required profile

• Experience as a catering assistant or similar food preparation role; hospital experience is desirable.
• Strong understanding of food hygiene and cleanliness standards.
• Reliable, punctual and committed to customer service and attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Flexible availability, with a preference for Saturdays and Sundays.
• Valid work rights in Australia; the position is not open to visa sponsorship.
