Cadet Hydraulic Designer (Buildings)

About the role

An award-winning hydraulic consultancy with offices across South East Queensland is looking for a trade-qualified plumber to become a cadet hydraulic designer. The role offers a transition from trade work to a long-term, office-based career in hydraulic design, with mentorship from designers who have made the same move.

Key responsibilities

• Learn the design process across major and minor commercial projects such as hospitals, aged care facilities, universities, multi-residential developments and local government projects.
• Work alongside experienced designers and mentors while being trained in industry-leading design software.
• Progress toward a Design Manager role, including client liaison, acting as hydraulic lead at design meetings, mentoring junior staff and contributing to project planning and technical decisions.

Required profile

• A trade plumbing qualification.
• Commercial project experience.
• Genuine interest in a long-term office-based career and a willingness to learn.
• Based in Brisbane or the Gold Coast, or open to relocating with a plan; applicants from across Australia need full Australian work rights and an equivalent trade qualification.
