Business Development Manager – Aftermarket

About the role

Johnson Controls (JCI) and Gordon Brothers Industries are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to grow the Gas Compression and Industrial Refrigeration portfolio across Australia and New Zealand. The role combines commercial focus with deep technical expertise to secure service, overhaul, retrofit and upgrade projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a pipeline of opportunities to meet sales targets and manage the Salesforce (SFDC) pipeline.
• Lead identification, development and sale of gas compressor rebuild, overhaul, retrofit and upgrade projects.
• Act as technical authority throughout the sales cycle, providing engineered solutions and asset‑management advice.
• Engage with customer engineering, reliability and operations teams to convert technical challenges into funded projects.
• Coordinate support from APAC product specialists and OEM partners for complex applications, including Mycom compressor commissioning.
• Generate spare‑parts, overhaul and upgrade opportunities based on asset condition assessments.
• Collaborate with Australia and New Zealand Business Development teams to convert maintenance opportunities into long‑term service agreements.
• Ensure compliance with QA, OHS&E and company standards and drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or demonstrated industry competency.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience with gas compression systems, industrial refrigeration or rotating equipment.
• Strong commercial acumen and proven business development or technical sales success.
• Excellent communication, proposal development and stakeholder‑influence skills.
• Commitment to frontline safety leadership and risk management.

Required skills

• Salesforce (SFDC) pipeline management.
• Technical knowledge of Frick and/or Sabroe compressor technologies.
• Experience with Mycom, Howden, Kobelco industrial compressors.
• Familiarity with Quantum and Unisab control platforms.
• Knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems and industrial process plants.
