Business Controller

About the role

The Finance team is looking for a Business Controller to ensure accurate financial reporting and provide high‑quality insights that add value to both customers and the business. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, supporting day‑to‑day decision making and strengthening the link between Finance and the wider organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Manage monthly, quarterly and annual financial close processes and produce complete financial statements for internal and external stakeholders.
• Review financial transactions, analyse results and deliver clear commentary to local and central teams.
• Lead the annual budget and forecast process, ensuring timely submission and KPI analysis.
• Oversee core controlling operations for BMW Group Australia and Aftersales, acting as a key contact for stakeholders.
• Partner with business areas and Aftersales teams to provide financial insight and support decision making.
• Drive ongoing reporting, prepare gross profit, contribution margin, cost of retail and project business cases.
• Prepare monthly accruals, variance analyses, dealer bonus payments and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Support profit simulations, ad‑hoc management requests and other controlling tasks.

Required profile

• University degree in Commerce with an Accounting focus; CPA or equivalent qualification desirable.
• Proven senior‑level experience, preferably with knowledge of internal processes in NSCs, dealerships and head‑quarter departments.
• Strong ability to prepare, interpret and analyse complex data sets and present findings clearly.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, across all business levels.
• High attention to detail, disciplined reporting approach and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
• Experience with Power BI for data visualisation.
• Familiarity with budgeting and forecasting tools COPAS and JRP.
