Building Maintenance Officer (Term Contract)

About the role

The Shire of Denmark is looking for a Building Maintenance Officer to join its Technical Services team, reporting to the Manager Technical Services. This full-time, term contract role (maximum 6 months, 76 hours per fortnight) coordinates and carries out maintenance across the Shire's built asset portfolio, supporting the management, maintenance and improvement of Shire-owned buildings and assets while keeping high standards of customer service and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake planned and reactive maintenance of buildings, facilities and associated assets
• Coordinate and monitor contractors on maintenance, repairs and capital works projects, including after-hours callouts
• Perform carpentry, painting, minor plumbing, mechanical repairs, fabrication and other general building maintenance
• Assist with asset inspections, maintenance planning and asset management
• Answer maintenance requests and advise internal and external customers
• Transport equipment, furniture and supplies; operate plant and machinery safely
• Take part in workplace health and safety initiatives and report hazards and incidents

Required profile

• Recognised trade qualification and at least five years of industry experience
• Demonstrated experience in building maintenance, repairs and construction
• Current C Class driver's licence, National Police Clearance and First Aid certificate
• Knowledge of safe work practices and physical capacity for manual tasks
• Willingness to complete a pre-employment medical and provide police clearance
