Bookkeeper – Accounting Outsourcing

About the role

BDO Australia is seeking a proactive Bookkeeper to join its Accounting Outsourcing team in Cairns. You will support a diverse client base, delivering high‑quality bookkeeping and accounting services while building strong client relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain general ledgers and prepare journal entries.
• Perform bank reconciliations and produce regular financial reports.
• Prepare Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS).
• Manage payroll, superannuation, and payroll tax obligations.
• Assist with management reporting and advisory work.
• Utilise cloud‑based accounting software such as MYOB and Xero.

Required profile

• Hold or be working towards a Certificate IV in Bookkeeping.
• Demonstrated proficiency in MYOB and Xero.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong initiative, organisational capability and time‑management.
• Commitment to delivering exceptional client service.
