Boilermaker / Welder (Aluminium & Stainless Steel)

About the role

Trades Workforce Solutions is offering a full-time labour-hire opportunity for a skilled Boilermaker / Welder in Melbourne's west. The successful candidate will work in a workshop team on precision fabrication, welding, fitting and structural assembly of custom transport and trailer components, within an established Australian manufacturing business.

Key responsibilities

• Perform high-quality MIG and TIG welding on aluminium and stainless-steel structures
• Fabricate, modify and assemble heavy vehicle components, trailer chassis and custom sub-assemblies
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and weld procedures
• Prepare materials with workshop machinery such as plasma cutters, guillotines, rollers and grinders
• Jig, clamp, fit and tack-weld assemblies to accurate dimensions and alignment
• Inspect completed work for welding or fabrication defects
• Maintain quality, safety and productivity, and follow workplace health and safety procedures

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Boilermaker, Welder or First-Class Welder
• Experience in heavy manufacturing, trailer building, transport equipment, structural fabrication or pressure vessels
• Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade or equivalent; welding or fabrication qualifications highly desirable
• Ability to work independently and as part of a workshop team

Required skills

• Strong MIG and TIG welding, especially on aluminium and stainless steel
• Ability to read complex fabrication drawings
• Strong fabrication, fitting and assembly skills
• Workshop machinery and fabrication equipment experience
• Understanding of workplace health and safety; forklift and overhead crane licences highly regarded
