Biostatistician – Health Research

About the role

The Faculty of Health at Western Sydney University seeks a senior Biostatistician to provide authoritative statistical advice and support for research design, analysis and reporting. This fixed‑term role runs until December 2027 and offers flexible working arrangements on the Campbelltown campus.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on complex study design, statistical methodology, sample size, power calculations and analysis planning.
• Develop robust, reproducible statistical analysis plans addressing modelling, missing data, sensitivity analyses and uncertainty.
• Review grant applications, protocols, ethics submissions and research reports, ensuring rigorous statistical standards.
• Produce statistical outputs for grants, manuscripts, partner communications and other deliverables.
• Establish Faculty‑wide templates, quality standards and a triage model for biostatistical support.

Required profile

• Post‑graduate qualification in biostatistics, statistics, epidemiology or a related discipline with extensive relevant experience.
• High‑level expertise in health and medical biostatistics, including study design, modelling and interpretation.
• Proven experience advising multidisciplinary research teams and reviewing grants, protocols and manuscripts.
• Advanced proficiency in statistical software and reproducible analytical workflows.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills with autonomy to manage complex priorities.
