Back-End Developer

About the role

Join Qantas' new Product Innovation Centre in Adelaide as a Back-End Developer. You will help design, build and maintain high‑traffic, cloud‑native services that power seamless digital experiences for our customers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the architecture, delivery and development of backend systems supporting Qantas' business units.
• Write clean, high‑quality Java code using Spring / Spring Boot and ensure scalability, reliability and security.
• Collaborate with product, front‑end and operations teams to meet performance and data‑privacy requirements.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions), containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) and monitoring tools (Splunk, Datadog).
• Participate in code reviews, automated testing and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• 3+ years of hands‑on software engineering experience.
• Proven track record building high‑traffic backend applications.
• Strong understanding of cloud‑native development on AWS, including deployment and scaling.
• Passion for quality, clean code and accountability.
• Test‑and‑learn mindset with curiosity and collaboration.
