Baby & Toddler Swimming Instructor

About the role

Aquanat, a small, established swim school in Alfred Cove, Perth, is looking for an experienced and caring Baby & Toddler Swimming Instructor to join its small team. The role is casual, set days, and suits someone looking for a long-term teaching home. Classes are deliberately small, in a warm, child-centred environment where children learn at their own pace.

Key responsibilities

• Teach babies, toddlers and young children, and their parents, in a warm, gentle way that builds confidence and safety in the water.
• Focus on breath control, buoyancy, body awareness, water safety and enjoyment of the water.
• Nurture the relationship between children and their parents, since parents are taught as well as children.
• Adapt lessons on the go, rather than following a rigid programme, according to each child's needs.

Required profile

• Ideally a qualified swimming instructor with substantial experience teaching babies, toddlers, young children and their parents.
• Calm, patient and observant, especially with hesitant or highly sensitive children.
• Comfortable communicating with parents and adapting lessons to children's needs.
• Reliable, professional and able to work as part of a small, supportive team.
• Willing to commit to the same day(s) each week and to spend school holidays off.
• Open to a period of observation, mentoring and practical training before teaching independently.

To apply, send an email to the employer stating your swim teaching experience, your experience working with young children and parents, and what attracted you to Aquanat's approach.
