Audiobook Production Executive

About the role

The Audiobook Production Executive coordinates the production of Simon & Schuster Australia’s audiobook list across all imprints, ensuring titles are delivered to a high standard, on schedule and within agreed budgets. Working closely with publishing, sales, marketing and publicity, the role supports the continued growth of the audiobook format by developing effective production approaches and identifying promotional opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the entire production process from recording to publication, including casting, booking narrators, studios and external partners.
• Liaise with authors, agents, and voice artists, monitor schedules and costs, and maintain quality‑control standards.
• Record and amend audiobook credits, perform minor audio edits, and keep an up‑to‑date network/database of narrators, studios and production partners.
• Collaborate with sales, marketing and publicity to source behind‑the‑scenes material, interviews and bonus content.
• Monitor local and international audiobook trends, provide production advice during acquisitions, assess viability of titles and identify original audiobook opportunities.

Required profile

• Relevant knowledge of audiobook, audio, media or publishing production, including schedules, quality requirements and commercial considerations.
• Experience working with authors, agents, narrators, voice artists, studios or external production partners.
• Highly organised, detail‑focused and able to manage multiple titles, deadlines and competing priorities autonomously.
• Strong communication, negotiation and relationship‑building skills with sound judgement and a collaborative approach.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, and ideally experience with Adobe Audition or similar audio‑editing software.
• Broad literary knowledge, awareness of audiobook audiences and market trends, and genuine enthusiasm for books and audio storytelling.
