Audio Technician – Crown Live Theatre

About the role

Crown Live Theatre is looking for experienced and passionate Audio Technicians to join its team. Reporting to the Production & Technical Manager, this is a hands-on role delivering technical quality across Crown Melbourne's theatre and entertainment venues, working alongside major productions and events. It is a full-time position.

Key responsibilities

• Lead audio operations across theatre productions, rehearsals, performances and live events.
• Act as the main point of contact for audio-related production requirements.
• Deliver key technical show functions including FOH mixing, monitor engineering, RF coordination and system operation.
• Oversee the setup, testing, maintenance and performance of professional audio systems.
• Lead and develop casual crew and contractors.
• Support rostering, operational planning and continuous improvement.
• Ensure all work is delivered safely, compliantly and to the highest technical standards.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in live audio engineering in theatre, concerts, events or similar environments.
• Experience leading technical teams, casual crew or contractors.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
• Ability to interpret technical documentation and show specifications.

Required skills

• Digital audio consoles: Avid VENUE SL6, DiGiCo SD & Quantum
• RF systems, PA systems and audio signal flow
• QLab 5 for show control and playback
