Associate Professor / Professor – Exercise & Sport Science

About the role

The Department of Biomedical Health and Exercise Sciences at Swinburne University seeks a distinguished Associate Professor or Professor in Exercise and Sport Science. The role provides senior academic leadership across research, teaching and professional activities, and includes a three‑year renewable appointment as Course Director.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the strategic direction of the Exercise and Sport Science program and contribute to school‑wide initiatives.
• Oversee accreditation, curriculum development and delivery for undergraduate and postgraduate courses using face‑to‑face, online and blended modes.
• Manage the Exercise and Sports Science course as Course Director, ensuring high‑quality teaching and research outcomes.
• Build and maintain national and international teaching and research partnerships.
• Align research and teaching to areas such as exercise physiology, biomechanics, motor control, physical activity and health.

Required profile

• National and international reputation as a leader in Exercise and Sport Science with demonstrated academic leadership.
• Experience with Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA) accreditation and academic management.
• Distinguished record of high‑quality teaching and program development in Exercise and Sport Science.
• Strong research record with publications in Q1/Q2 journals.
• Doctoral qualification in Exercise and Sport Science or Clinical Exercise Physiology; current AEP or AES accreditation preferred.
