Associate Professor – Implementation Science

About the role

James Cook University is seeking an Associate Professor to lead its Implementation Science research agenda in Townsville. The role combines high‑impact research, interdisciplinary collaboration, and teaching across undergraduate to doctoral levels.

Key responsibilities

• Lead an externally funded, high‑impact research program in implementation science.
• Build and nurture a community of practice across the university.
• Collaborate with health services, governments, Indigenous communities and policy makers to co‑design research and translate findings into practice.
• Deliver high‑quality teaching and supervision for Honours, Masters and PhD programmes.
• Mentor early‑career researchers and promote an inclusive research culture.
• Champion equity, diversity, inclusion and sustainability initiatives.

Required profile

• PhD in implementation science or a closely related field.
• Proven track record of securing competitive research funding and leading complex research projects.
• Extensive experience in teaching, curriculum development and HDR supervision.
• Strong communication, relationship‑building and leadership abilities.
• Commitment to community‑engaged research and collaboration with First Nations communities.

• Salary range $164,231 – $180,463 per year plus 17% superannuation.
