Associate Lecturer – Classics (Part‑time)

About the role

The School of Literature, Languages and Linguistics at ANU seeks an Associate Lecturer to strengthen teaching and research in Ancient Greek and Latin. This part‑time, contingent‑funded position starts on 1 July 2026 and is based in Canberra.

Key responsibilities

• Teach Ancient Greek and Latin across undergraduate levels, including majors and translation courses.
• Develop and maintain an active research agenda in Greek and Roman language and literature.
• Contribute to public engagement, service activities, and museum‑related projects within the Centre for Classical Studies.
• Collaborate with colleagues and mentor students, supporting the Centre’s research directions.

Required profile

• Demonstrated ability to teach Ancient Greek and Latin at all levels.
• Active scholarly record in the languages or literature of Ancient Greece and Rome, or language pedagogy.
• Motivated, collegial, and collaborative approach to teaching and research.
• Willingness to engage in public outreach and service within the Centre.
