Associate Design Architect

About the role

An Australian design practice is looking for a senior project architect to lead projects and bring expertise in multi-residential design. The ideal candidate is a confident, well-rounded design leader with strong conceptual skills and Revit expertise, able to manage complex projects and work closely with project teams. Key responsibilities

• Drive design excellence across diverse project typologies, keeping a high standard of architectural innovation and aesthetic rigor
• Contribute to the studio's design culture through design reviews, workshops critiquing work-in-progress and continuous learning
• Take part in feasibility studies and concept design proposals
• Represent the firm at client meetings, external design review panels and industry forums
• Lead the delivery of design outcomes, ensuring high-quality documentation and smooth coordination
• Develop and present design materials for client meetings, competitions and stakeholder reviews
• Work with Directors to balance creative vision, functional requirements and commercial viability
• Show mastery of 3D modelling and visualisation tools such as Revit and Enscape to iterate designs quickly
• Integrate sustainable design principles and high-performance building strategies into every project
• Mentor junior and intermediate staff on design methodology and professional development
• Negotiate with local authorities and community groups to secure project buy-in

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Architecture
• Knowledge of the Australian market and local building codes
• Experience in multi-residential, mixed-use, retail, industrial and other sectors
• Design portfolio and ability to communicate design thinking
• Strong team leadership skills
