About the role
The Queensland Police Service is seeking an Assistant Watchhouse Officer to support the administration, supervision and monitoring of persons in custody. The role operates on a 24‑hour rotational roster, including afternoons, nights, weekends and public holidays.
Key responsibilities
- Perform watchhouse duties such as processing persons into custody and supervising visitors.
- Prepare and maintain prisoner files, health records and movement logs.
- Operate and monitor electronic surveillance and movement‑control systems in line with QPS procedures.
- Ensure accurate record‑keeping according to QPS policy.
- Assist senior staff with operational issues and welfare of detainees.
Required profile
- Valid open C‑class driver’s licence.
- Willingness to wear the official uniform and adhere to the QPS Code of Dress and Appearance.
- Ability to work a 24‑hour, 7‑day rotational shift roster.
Required skills
- Operation of electronic surveillance systems.
- Use of movement‑control monitoring equipment.
- Record‑management and documentation skills.
