Assistant Instructor – Synthetic Warfare Training

About the role

Serco is seeking an Assistant Instructor to support the Navy Synthetic Warfighting Centre in delivering advanced synthetic warfare training for the Royal Australian Navy. Working alongside senior instructors and Defence stakeholders, you will help plan, configure and execute complex simulation‑based training events that build Navy capability.

Key responsibilities

• Support delivery of Advanced Tactical Training programmes.
• Manage simulator databases, entity builds and scenario design.
• Configure and monitor combat system trainers and communications equipment.
• Conduct system operability testing and report technical issues.
• Provide simulation support by emulating air and maritime assets.
• Deliver user training and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years’ experience with Naval Combat Management Systems.
• Strong understanding of RAN operations, doctrine and warfighting principles.
• Experience in Defence training environments, preferably synthetic warfare.
• Excellent communication skills and confidence working with Defence stakeholders.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a defence security clearance of NV2 or higher.
• Willingness to obtain a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
