Assistant in Nursing (Transitional Aged Care)

About the role

Mercy Health's Transitional Aged Care Program is a community-based 12-week program that provides clinical and practical support to care recipients in their own homes. The Assistant in Nursing (AIN) gives practical support such as personal care, domestic assistance and transport, as well as social support and health monitoring, under the supervision of the Registered Nurse. It suits novice AINs and nursing students who want experience in a supportive, multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Provide practical support including personal care, domestic assistance and transport
• Offer social support and health monitoring
• Work under the supervision of the Registered Nurse

Required profile

• Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalent (or working towards it)
• Nursing student suitably experienced in aged care, home care or acute/subacute care
• Organised, reliable and accountable for work within scope of practice
• Current unrestricted driver's licence
• Resilient, compassionate and committed to patient-centred care

Required skills

• Proficiency with computers
• Ability to perform confidently without direct supervision
• Evidence of, or progress toward, a police record check and a Working with Children Check
• Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccinations consistent with public health orders

What we offer

• Fixed-term part-time position of 72 hours per fortnight, day shifts only with some weekend work (shift penalties apply)
• Up to $36.05 base rate per hour depending on experience
