Assistant Accountant

About the role

ARTEMUS Group is looking for an Assistant Accountant to support its growing team. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for the full accounting function of multiple entities in a fast-paced environment. The employer is Howard Smith Wharves, which operates 13 restaurants, cafes, bars, event spaces and a hotel in Brisbane, and also owns businesses such as Story Bridge Adventure Climb and Manly Wharf Precinct.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and present monthly management accounts for multiple entities
• Carry out bank reconciliations and reconcile suspense, clearing, sales and banking clearing accounts
• Maintain the fixed asset register and general ledger for multiple entities
• Assist with budgets and forecasts, and monitor and analyse KPIs, financials and operational data
• Complete ad-hoc financial duties requested by the CFO/FC, and recommend improvements to financial processes
• Prepare and submit Business Activity Statements to the ATO, and assist with FBT reporting and annual FBT returns

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in accounting or studies towards one, with at least 2 years' experience in a commercial environment
• Solid financial acumen and a knack for commercial accounting
• Ability to multi-task, prioritise and work autonomously in a fast-paced environment

Required skills

• Cloud-based accounting systems (MYOB Acumatica advantageous)
• Strong analytical, technical and Excel skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
