Assistant Accountant

About the role

We are looking for a highly motivated Assistant Accountant to join our growing team in Sydney. The role offers a hands‑on environment supporting financial operations, reporting, analysis and continuous process improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day accounting and finance functions.
• Assist in preparing monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Perform bank, balance‑sheet and general‑ledger reconciliations.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow management.
• Contribute to month‑end and year‑end close processes.
• Prepare BAS, payroll‑related reconciliations and statutory reporting.
• Analyse financial data and provide insights for business decisions.
• Develop, maintain and optimise SAP Business One queries.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and reporting efficiency.
• Liaise with external accountants, auditors and key stakeholders.

Required profile

• Relevant accounting or finance qualification (CA qualified or working towards qualification preferred).
• 3–5 years of experience in an accounting or finance role.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP and, preferably, Power Query.
• Strong experience with SAP Business One and the ability to build and modify queries.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and attention‑to‑detail abilities.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
