Assistant Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Assistant Accountant to join our finance team in Brisbane. This full-time position offers a blend of on-site collaboration and work-from-home flexibility, supporting a fast-growing infrastructure group.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly financial and management reports for multiple entities.
• Assist with month-end close, including accruals, pre-payments, journal entries and bank reconciliations.
• Support BAS, payroll tax and superannuation compliance lodgements.
• Maintain fixed-asset registers and assist with audit working papers.
• Process fortnightly payroll for a small team and act as backup for accounts payable and receivable.
• Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes and systems.

Required profile

• Studying towards CPA/CA or equivalent qualification.
• Demonstrated experience as an Assistant Accountant or strong bookkeeping background in an SME.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
