Assistant Accountant

About the role

The Assistant Accountant will join Hermès Australia’s Finance team, working on‑site at the head office. The role focuses on accounts receivable, revenue reconciliations and reporting, while supporting month‑end and year‑end close activities.

Key responsibilities

• Perform revenue, sales, bank, receivable and customer financial flow reconciliations for all stores, including e‑commerce.
• Monitor aged receivables, investigate discrepancies and mitigate bad‑debt risk.
• Handle cash reconciliation, cash collection and float deliveries for stores.
• Prepare recharge invoices for non‑retail clients and corporate orders.
• Review sales receipts for regulatory and group compliance; generate non‑compliance reports.
• Produce daily, weekly, monthly and annual sales reports.
• Manage external stakeholder enquiries, facilitate refunds and resolve customer disputes.
• Support retail network in transaction‑related issue investigation using Cegid.
• Monitor sales transaction interfaces in SAP, resolve interface issues.
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliation status reports and resolve outstanding items.
• Perform monthly balance‑sheet reconciliations for accounts receivable and related accounts.
• Generate monthly turnover reports in Magnitude and communicate sales advice to stakeholders.
• Prepare monthly treasury compliance reports for the group treasury team.
• Produce monthly shrinkage reports on till discrepancies.
• Reconcile GST and PAYG, lodge monthly BAS in line with statutory requirements.
• Assist with annual external audit processes and accounting governance reviews.

Required profile

• Relevant accounting qualification or equivalent experience.
• Experience in accounts receivable, revenue reconciliation and month‑end close processes.
• Knowledge of Australian tax reporting (GST, PAYG) and statutory BAS filing.
