APS6 Finance Business Partner

About the role

This APS6 Finance Business Partner position is within a high‑profile Federal Government department, supporting business areas through financial planning, analysis and decision support. You will work in a collaborative finance team that provides real‑time advice and insight to influence financial outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Build effective partnerships with business stakeholders to deliver real‑time financial support and advice.
• Act as a trusted adviser on current and future financial performance.
• Develop and maintain robust financial models for planning and forecasting.
• Contribute to the management of the department’s internal budget.
• Prepare financial reports and analysis for diverse audiences, including senior stakeholders.
• Interpret complex financial information and present insights to aid decision‑making.
• Provide sound financial advice and guidance across a wide stakeholder group.

Required profile

• Australian citizenship with at least Baseline security clearance.
• Experience in budgeting, forecasting, management reporting or financial analysis.
• Strong financial modelling and analytical capabilities.
• Ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate insights clearly.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
• Experience partnering with business areas to support informed decisions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline (highly regarded).
