Application Developer (Hybrid, 4‑year contract)

About the role

This position is for an IT Application Developer supporting a federal government client on a long‑term contract. The role is hybrid, requiring three days on‑site and two days remote each week across several Australian capitals.

Key responsibilities

• Design, code, verify, test, document, amend and refactor moderately complex programs and scripts.
• Troubleshoot defects, fix bugs and resolve build or runtime issues.
• Apply agreed standards and tools to produce well‑engineered results.
• Conduct unit and integration testing, investigate failures and implement fixes.
• Support deployments by addressing minor release issues and assisting with rollback activities.
• Collaborate in peer reviews, identify defects, improve code quality and resolve review comments.

Required profile

• Baseline Security Clearance or higher.
• Ability to work in a hybrid model across Canberra, Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide or Brisbane.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving mindset.

Required skills

• Experience with programming and scripting languages used in government IT systems.
• Familiarity with unit and integration testing practices.
• Knowledge of software development standards and version‑control tools.
