Android Mobile Engineer – Native App & CI/CD

About the role

We are looking for an Android Mobile Engineer to own the development lifecycle, scalability and developer experience of Woolworths’ core native Android application. You will bridge feature development and operations, ensuring high‑quality code, 99.9 % uptime and secure, compliant delivery across a massive customer base.

Key responsibilities

• Define and evolve the “Golden Path” for Android architecture, deprecating legacy frameworks and guiding teams toward modern idiomatic Android development.
• Partner with mobile app teams to make SDKs, build systems and dependency management consumable through Woolworths’ automation tooling.
• Own Azure CI/CD pipelines that automate builds, testing, code signing and deployment to Google Play Store and internal channels.
• Translate regulatory and security requirements (e.g., data encryption) into engineering backlogs and automated remediation.
• Use reporting and monitoring tools such as Splunk to surface platform issues, reduce crashes and performance regressions, and improve operational efficiency.

Required profile

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, preferably in mobile development.
• Strong track record of delivering high‑quality, well‑tested native Android applications at scale.
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and cloud services in a production environment.
