Aircraft Mechanic III – AH-64 Specialty (OCONUS)

About the role

The Aircraft Mechanic III (AH-64 Specialty) is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and modifying complex aircraft structures, systems, and engines in Townsville, Australia. The role involves supervising lower‑level technicians, ensuring compliance with technical standards, and supporting flight operations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and repair aircraft components including flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel and mechanical systems.
• Interpret technical data such as blueprints and manufacturer manuals to diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions.
• Plan, conduct, and supervise technical inspections, weight‑and‑balance calculations, and maintenance test flights.
• Provide guidance to lower‑level technicians and ensure proper documentation in aircraft logs.
• Ensure compliance with configuration control, oil analysis programs, and calibration of diagnostic equipment.

Required profile

• Valid A&P license with at least five years of aviation maintenance experience, including five years on rotary‑wing aircraft.
• U.S. citizenship, passport with required validity, and ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
• High school diploma or equivalent; U.S. military technical school or AH‑64 training preferred.
• Physical ability to lift up to 25 lb regularly (occasionally 50 lb) and meet respirator fit‑test requirements.

Required skills

• Aircraft sheet‑metal and structural modification and repair.
• Hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and power‑plant system troubleshooting.
• Use of specialized tools: torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet‑metal brakes and shears.
• Logbook entry and record‑keeping according to military technical publications.
• Ability to operate test equipment, ground support equipment, and forklift.
