ADABAS Database Administrator or ADABAS Natural Developer

About the role

DXC Technology is looking for an ADABAS Database Administrator or an ADABAS Natural Developer who is interested in training as an ADABAS Database Administrator. As an ADABAS Natural Developer you bring mainframe experience and knowledge of the ADABAS Natural environment; the role is also an opportunity to broaden your knowledge and skillset. You will be responsible for administering the ADABAS environments and maintaining Software AG and third-party products.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain, monitor and optimise ADABAS database systems.
• Perform routine database maintenance, including backups, restores and disaster recovery procedures.
• Plan and implement upgrades and maintenance of ADABAS, Natural and related Software AG and third-party products at vendor-supported levels.
• Apply patches and emergency fixes to ensure database stability and security.
• Conduct database performance tuning and optimization.
• Use database utilities and third-party tools for monitoring and management.
• Support disaster recovery exercises and maintain documentation of completed tasks.
• Collaborate with Mainframe Systems Programmers on performance and operational issues.
• Provide 24/7 on-call support.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as an ADABAS Database Administrator or ADABAS Natural Developer.
• Australian citizen.
• Federal government clearance (NV1) or eligibility to apply.
• Must pass background checks compatible with company requirements.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of the ADABAS environment, database structures, utilities and performance tuning.
• Experience with backup, recovery and disaster recovery.
• Knowledge of third-party database management and monitoring tools.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, communication and teamwork skills.
