Accountant – Project & Financial Reporting

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Accountant to support the Financial Controller of Zitron Australia, a leading ventilation fan manufacturer serving the mining and underground tunnel sectors. The role will ensure accurate financial records, manage project accounting and drive process improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day financial accounting functions, including accounts payable and receivable, and ensure accurate transaction recording.
• Prepare month‑end and year‑end accounts, journals, accruals, balance‑sheet reconciliations and financial statements.
• Oversee project accounting, cost tracking, revenue recognition, purchase orders, variations and customer invoicing.
• Coordinate budgets, forecasts, variance analysis and management reporting with project managers.
• Lead internal and external audits and maintain compliance with Australian statutory requirements.
• Support continuous improvement of accounting processes and ERP efficiency using Infor Syteline.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce or related field; CPA/CA progress is highly regarded.
• Demonstrated experience in a similar accounting role, preferably with project accounting exposure.
• Strong knowledge of Australian accounting standards, GST and BAS requirements.
• Excellent analytical, reconciliation and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict reporting deadlines.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.
• Experience with Infor Syteline ERP (or similar ERP systems).
