Academic Learning Advisor – Maths & Literacy

About the role

The Academic Learning Advisor will join the School of Access Education’s Academic Learning Centre at CQUniversity Gladstone. In this full‑time position you will help adult learners from diverse backgrounds build confidence and competence in mathematics, literacy and study skills, supporting their pathways to further study or employment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging teaching sessions covering algebra, trigonometry, applied calculations, academic writing and communication.
• Provide one‑to‑one and group academic support tailored to individual student needs.
• Design and facilitate learning experiences across face‑to‑face, online and flexible delivery modes.
• Assess student progress and give constructive feedback to promote continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with colleagues in the Academic Learning Centre to develop resources and best practices.

Required profile

• Demonstrated expertise in teaching mathematics (algebra, trigonometry, applied calculations).
• Experience delivering literacy, academic writing and communication instruction to adult learners.
• Commitment to adult‑learning principles and a student‑centred approach.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for building positive relationships.
• Completed a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, supported by industry or professional experience.

What we offer

• Salary range $102,517 – $132,833 per year (including 17% superannuation).
• 5.4 weeks of annual leave plus additional paid days for Christmas/New Year.
