Aboriginal Care Coordinator (Renal) - Part-Time

About the role

Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services Ltd (KAMS), an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service established in 1986, is recruiting an Aboriginal Care Coordinator based in Kununurra on a part-time basis. The role focuses on renal health and supports Aboriginal patients with renal conditions through information, education and advocacy within a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Provide information and education on renal health and engage with patients in outreach settings
• Advocate for patients' rights within a multidisciplinary team framework
• Develop strategies to improve access to primary healthcare for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
• Facilitate culturally sensitive health care delivery
• Work collaboratively with local Aboriginal Medical Services

Required profile

• Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent
• Experience working with Indigenous communities from diverse backgrounds
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
• Commitment to confidentiality and cultural sensitivity
• Current 'C' class manual driver's licence
• Desirable: health setting experience, mentorship capacity for Aboriginal staff, computer skills and ability to travel within the Kimberley region

What we offer

• Salary of $85,126 per annum pro rata
• Accommodation allowance of $7,800 per annum pro rata
• Annual airfare of $1,800 per annum pro rata
• Salary sacrifice option up to $30,000 per annum
