3D Animation Lead

About the role

Flying Bark Productions is seeking a 3D Animation Lead to head a team of animators on high‑profile projects such as Avatar: The Last Airbender, Ghostbusters, and Stranger Things animated series. You will act as the primary liaison between production, supervisors, and the animation team, ensuring smooth workflow and top‑quality output.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of 3D animators throughout the production cycle.
• Serve as the main point of contact for production and animation supervisors, handling creative challenges and schedule changes.
• Set and manage team assignments in collaboration with the animation supervisor.
• Maintain workflow templates, documentation, and ensure tools are correctly configured.
• Collaborate with technology teams to provide and set up department tools.
• Attend dailies, present team work, and guide artists on presentation.
• Provide regular feedback, coach junior artists, and support their professional growth.
• Keep show wikis up to date with technical animators.

Required profile

• Proven experience mentoring or leading an animation team.
• Strong knowledge of Maya and 3D animation pipelines.
• Understanding of physical motion, weight, balance, texture, and form.
• Familiarity with rigging setups and data transfer between tools.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and adapt to change.
• Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
