Windows Systems Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Windows Systems Engineer to support a legacy Windows environment while helping design and implement a modern infrastructure for a research group. The role combines day‑to‑day administration with strategic migration work.

Key responsibilities

• Support and maintain a legacy Windows VM environment and its users.
• Assist in migrating researchers to a new modern platform.
• Manage daily systems, network, and storage administration.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure issues, optimise performance, availability and security.
• Collaborate with project teams to design and implement solutions.
• Contribute to building and improving a new computing environment.

Required profile

• Strong experience with Windows Server 2016+ and Windows 10+.
• Hands‑on experience with virtualization platforms such as XCP‑NG (preferred) or VMware.
• Deep knowledge of Active Directory, including Domain Controllers, DNS, DHCP and Group Policy.
• Experience with user administration, patching and security auditing.

What we offer

• Daily rate of $700‑$800 plus superannuation.
• Hybrid work model (2‑3 days onsite per week).
