Systems Engineer – Cloud & On‑Premise (Canberra)

About the role

Join Bluestaq Australia as a Systems Engineer and ensure the continuous, secure operation of mission‑critical enterprise systems for defence and government clients. You will work with both cloud‑hosted and on‑premises environments, applying deep systems‑administration expertise to keep services running 24/7.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and monitor enterprise systems, networks and applications across cloud and on‑premise platforms.
• Perform daily troubleshooting, patching, upgrades and automation to improve performance and security.
• Ensure high availability and reliability for 24/7 operations, responding quickly to incidents.
• Collaborate with engineering and cybersecurity teams to strengthen system resilience and compliance with defence standards.
• Support cloud identity and access management tools and maintain operational documentation.
• Manage production Kubernetes clusters, handling deployment, scaling, monitoring (Prometheus/Grafana) and containerised application support.

Required profile

• 5–7+ years of systems administration or IT experience in mission‑critical environments.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in information technology or equivalent experience.
• Strong customer‑service mindset and ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams.
• Willingness to embrace core values of ownership, curiosity, talent and trust.
