System Administrator – VMware

About the role

Leidos Australia is seeking an experienced System Administrator to design, deploy and support a new enterprise VMware platform within a highly secure environment. You will join a collaborative infrastructure team delivering modern virtualisation capabilities for critical applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and implement VMware solutions (vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, NSX, vSAN) integrating compute, storage and networking.
• Configure, administer and optimise the virtualisation environment to ensure security, scalability and resilience.
• Work with network, security and application teams to support platform integration and operational readiness.
• Develop automation, documentation, monitoring and support processes for long‑term platform sustainability.

Required profile

• Proven experience administering enterprise VMware environments, including vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, NSX and vSAN.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for complex infrastructure and virtualisation issues.
• Ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams and communicate technical solutions clearly.
• Australian citizenship with current NV1 security clearance (ability to obtain NV2).

Required skills

• VMware vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, NSX, vSAN
• Automation/scripting with PowerCLI, PowerShell or infrastructure‑as‑code tools
• Platform operations knowledge (monitoring, patching, backup, recovery, lifecycle management)
• Understanding of security hardening, access controls and compliance requirements
