Staff Front-End Engineer - Telemetry

About the role

Canva is looking for a Staff Front‑End Engineer to own the telemetry layer that powers product insight across the company. Based in Melbourne and working in a hybrid model, you will help build a next‑generation SDK that automatically captures performance and reliability data for every user interaction.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement a telemetry SDK that requires minimal manual instrumentation for developers.
• Deep dive into browser performance APIs and the rendering stack to capture accurate metrics.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to surface data that informs product decisions.
• Explore and define measurement strategies for AI‑driven, non‑UI experiences.
• Maintain high standards of code quality, documentation, and test coverage.

Required profile

• Proven experience building large‑scale front‑end infrastructure or SDKs.
• Strong understanding of browser internals, performance measurement, and web APIs.
• Ability to work independently and influence cross‑functional teams.
• Passion for solving complex instrumentation challenges, especially in emerging AI contexts.

Required skills

• Experience with front‑end web technologies and performance APIs.
• Expertise in building and maintaining SDKs or libraries.
• Familiarity with AI‑native product measurement is a plus.
