Specialist Community & Social Performance Engagement

About the role

Rio Tinto is seeking a Specialist Communities & Social Performance (CSP) Engagement professional to lead community engagement activities in Gladstone. You will shape the company’s social licence by building trusted relationships with host communities, Traditional Owners, government and industry stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and delivery of Rio Tinto’s community engagement strategy in Gladstone.
• Collaborate with CSP Business Partners, asset and functional teams to plan and deliver regular engagements, events and topic‑specific activities such as community investment events, GISTM, SEIA, emergency planning and studies.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with community, industry and local government stakeholders and represent Rio Tinto at external forums and events.
• Lead annual community perception monitoring through the Local Voices program.
• Ensure all engagement activities comply with the Rio Tinto CSP Standard and related guidance.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in social sciences or an equivalent field.
• At least 4 years of experience in the CSP discipline, specifically planning and delivering stakeholder engagement activities.
• Proven ability to listen, communicate effectively, work collaboratively and develop positive stakeholder relationships.
• Experience in stakeholder complaints management and support.
• Strong influencing, project management, compliance and risk management capabilities.
• Self‑motivated with the ability to drive outcomes and manage complex, conflicting priorities.
• Commitment to safety and excellent teamwork and communication skills.
