Solutions Engineer

About the role

Primer is building the unified payments infrastructure used by leading global merchants. As a Solutions Engineer you will act as a trusted technical advisor, helping merchants integrate and optimise their use of Primer’s platform.

Key responsibilities

• Work closely with the sales team to uncover merchant pain points and demonstrate how Primer solves them.
• Provide technical expertise throughout the sales cycle, including discovery sessions, solution design workshops, product demos and developer Q&As.
• Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions and communicate complex concepts in simple language.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering and Sales to shape feature enhancements and new product ideas based on market feedback.
• Drive client engagements from proof‑of‑concept to production, ensuring robust, future‑proof integrations.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a merchant‑facing role with a complex API product, preferably in payments.
• Confidence leading discovery sessions and working with technical stakeholders at large merchants.
• Strong interest or knowledge of technology and ability to design and explain complex technical specifications.
• Creativity and improvisational skills to tailor solutions for diverse merchant needs.
• Excellent communication and presentation abilities for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Collaborative mindset to work effectively with Product, Engineering and Sales teams.
• Drive and motivation to grow in a fast‑scaling environment.
• Proven track record of getting things done and making an impact.
