Software Engineer – Mission Software Solutions

About the role

Leidos Australia is seeking a Software Engineer to join its Mission Software Solutions team in Melbourne or Canberra. This on‑site position works within a secure environment supporting Defence, Intelligence and Government customers.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop innovative software solutions across the full development lifecycle.
• Participate in agile story development, estimation, CI/CD and SecDevOps practices.
• Develop web‑focused UI/UX, integrate external systems via REST APIs, and maintain unit/integration tests.
• Research, prototype, and investigate new technologies, producing clear technical documentation.

• Quality‑focused engineer with strong problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and adapt to changing priorities.
• Commitment to delivering reliable, secure, and maintainable software aligned with customer goals.

Required skills

• Agile software delivery and solid engineering principles.
• Full‑stack development (React, Angular.NET, Java).
• Integration technologies (REST APIs, JSON, XML, NiFi, Kafka, Elastic/ELK, Solr).
• CI/CD tools and IaC (Ansible, GitLab, Git, Docker, Kubernetes).
• Testing and automation, unit/integration test development.
• Linux and Windows environments, Jira, Confluence.
