Senior Team Leader – Child Protection Services

About the role

The Senior Team Leader provides strategic leadership and day‑to‑day management of a multidisciplinary team delivering high‑quality child protection services. This role ensures compliance with legislation, departmental policies and best practice while supporting the professional growth of staff.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of Child Safety Officers to deliver assessment, intervention, casework and case management services.
• Allocate, prioritize and monitor work tasks in line with the Framework for Practice and statutory requirements.
• Collaborate with the Service Centre Manager to develop service responses that meet client and community needs.
• Identify training gaps, work with training specialists, and support staff development.
• Foster cross‑sector partnerships and promote a culture of teamwork, excellence and professional ethics.
• Participate in the Service Centre Management Team and quality assurance reviews.
• Provide specialist advice on complex casework, policy, legislation and practice.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in a child protection or social services environment.
• Strong understanding of relevant legislation, policies and practice guidelines.
• Excellent communication, decision‑making and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
• Ability to manage resources, budgets and administrative delegations.
