Senior System Administrator

About the role

Nomad Digital is seeking an experienced Senior System Administrator to join its global Engineering division in Perth, Australia. The role blends deep technical expertise with mentorship, acting as the final escalation point for complex infrastructure issues while raising the overall technical capability of the team.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain global network and server infrastructure, including data centres, VMware, and Azure cloud environments.
• Automate provisioning, configuration, and management using Ansible or Puppet.
• Configure and manage network security devices such as FortiGate firewalls, Linux firewalls, VPNs, and routing protocols (e.g., BGP).
• Administer and secure Linux‑based systems (Ubuntu/Debian) and serve as a 3rd‑line escalation point for complex incidents.
• Develop and maintain monitoring solutions (e.g., Zabbix) to optimise resource utilisation and ensure reliability.
• Manage containerised applications with Kubernetes, handling cluster administration and lifecycle management.
• Create comprehensive documentation for architecture, SOPs, and disaster recovery plans.
• Collaborate with InfoSec teams on security audits and remediation based on best practices.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in systems and network administration.
• Strong troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis skills.
• Ability to mentor junior staff and share best practices.
• Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
